MV Switchgear Installation and Commissioning
In a metal-enclosed MV switchgear cell, the most sensitive step in assembly is the torque value on the busbar connection.
12-36 kV
Voltage Level
≤ 25 kA
Short-Circuit Withstand
What a loose connection costs
Once the cell is moved to site, mechanical alignment comes first, then the busbar connections are torqued to the value specified by the manufacturer.
Whether the breaker, disconnector and earthing switch operate in the correct sequence is confirmed with a mechanical interlock test.
The cell is energized only once insulation resistance measurement and the protection relay parameter check are both complete.
What's Included
- Mechanical alignment and busbar connection
- Cable termination assembly
- Circuit breaker and disconnector function tests
- Mechanical interlock system check
- Insulation resistance measurement
- Energization and record sign-off
| Test Stage | What's Checked | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Factory Acceptance Test | Insulation, function | Before shipment |
| Post-Installation Check | Busbar connection, torque | After installation |
| Commissioning Test | Insulation, protection relay | Before energization |
Standards We Apply
TS EN 62271-200
Metal-enclosed MV switchgear
A gap in IEC 61850 compliance stops SCADA integration cold, even once the mechanical installation is finished.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is torque checked on busbar connections?
Connections are torqued with a calibrated torque wrench to the value specified by the manufacturer, and the value is logged on the inspection form.
Why is the mechanical interlock system tested?
The interlock logic is verified to prevent the breaker, disconnector and earthing switch inside the cell from being operated in the wrong sequence.
Who is on site during energization?
Our field team is present during energization, along with a client representative if requested.
